It is hard to overstate the importance of books that offer learners access to high-quality knowledge and play a significant role in their studying process. This essay contends that using textbooks has gained traction in many nations as an effective way. Nevertheless, some argue that textbooks are no longer needed as all documents can be stored electronically. This essay will shed light on both its merits and demerits,

On the one hand, textbooks offer multiple splendid effects. First and foremost, the core advantage of textbooks is that they are typically regarded as trustworthy information sources. The fact is that textbook data is almost compiled and synthesized by professors and educationists with high expertise. Furthermore, the physicality and tangibility of textbooks offer a unique reading experience that cannot be altered by others such as digital books. Turning the pages, smelling the ink and paper, and feeling the shape of a book all contribute to a sensory and immersive experience that many readers find enjoyable and comforting. Textbooks also play an important role in promoting deep reading and focused attention. In a digital environment filled with distractions, such as notifications and links, textbooks provide a respite from constant interruptions and allow readers to fully engage with the text. Studies have shown that reading textbooks can enhance/ cultivate comprehension, retention, and critical thinking skills, making them particularly valuable in educational contexts.

Notwithstanding the aforementioned merits of using textbooks, there are some remaining unfavorable demerits. Firstly, a host of information is outdated since they are collected in specific periods without annual changes. Hence, textbooks are not valuable to some extent and learners indeed research outstanding contexts requiring

constant updating. Meanwhile, people possibly gravitate toward innovative digital formats.

In conclusion, every coin has two sides so it is undeniable that textbooks have both merits and demerits. Nevertheless, its demerit just pales in comparison with out-weigh merits. Even though textbooks should no doubt be given precedence in education, educationists should enhance some downsides mentioned in this essay.
