Climate change has triggered a wide range of natural disasters across the globe, ultimately accelerating environmental degradation. It is argued by some that the onus of preventing this lies more with politicians than with individuals. From my perspective, I contend that individuals should assume a greater level of responsibility in addressing this issue.
First and foremost, it is undeniable that governments have failed to sufficiently address climate change. Politicians not only possess the financial resources but also wield significant authority. They have the capacity to revise policies aimed at mitigating actions that contribute to climate change. Furthermore, governments can play a crucial role in raising awareness about the perils of global environmental damage and promoting environmentally friendly lifestyles within society. This can help to foster a greater understanding of the dangers posed by climate change, thereby encouraging more individuals to take proactive measures to safeguard the environment.
Despite the negligence of politicians, individuals have also failed to take effective actions to combat climate change. It is apparent that a substantial number of people still engage in wasteful practices such as excessive water and electricity consumption. While there are existing policies in place to regulate the emission of air pollutants, many factories continue to engage in illicit activities that exacerbate the effects of climate change. For instance, numerous factories indiscriminately discharge significant amounts of industrial wastewater, further deteriorating the environmental situation. Additionally, a considerable portion of the population views global environmental damage as a trivial issue and fail to take any preventive measures. The primary reason for this apathy is the lack of awareness about the severity of climate change.
In conclusion, while it is undeniable that governments have not adequately fulfilled their obligations to address environmental shifts, the primary responsibility rests on individuals due to their lack of attentiveness to this pressing issue.
