In the contemporary era, gender equality becomes a famous issue to sort out. People believe that women and men have different strengths and weaknesses. For that reason, the occupations of females and males must differ based on their gender. From my perspective, choosing a profession should be based on a person’s skills, abilities and characteristics rather than on gender. This essay will argue that it is not right to exclude males for females from certain professions because of their gender.
Excluding a person from a certain profession based on gender is not only ethically wrong but also legally unacceptable throughout the world. In history, there were some specific jobs that were mainly dominated by men, for example, engineers, scientists, and etc. On the other hand, females outnumbered the males in certain professions such as teachers, nurses, designers. However, people like Marie Curies conducted the initial discoveries about radioactivity and became the first women who won the Nobel Prize.
It is true that mens and womens possess biological differences due to nature such as physical strength. However, these differences can’t dictate a person’s abilities and skills for specific jobs. Nowaday, there are many famous male designers in the fashion industry which is formerly regarded as female-dominated industry. The world’s most famous luxury brands namely Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs, Pierre Cardin, Michael Kors are initiated by men designers.
There are feasible ways to overcome this issue and one possible way is that the government could take measures by providing equal opportunities for male and female employees. To enhance the solution, the private companies and employers ensure that male and female staff work in identical working environments and responsibilities. To sum up, everyone should have equal chances to follow up their goals and to explore their interests in every occupation regardless of their gender.
