It is argue that local authorities should allocate money to building libraries nationwide, whereas opposition think that it is misuse of funds, because individuals have access of internet resources at home to get data. Although traditional reading services are beneficial, I firmly believe that digital resources are more practical and convinient.
Undeniably, libraries are often viewed as cozy and productive places. These free facilities usually equipped with computers, free internet, and digital resources – essential for people who don’t have these at home. Moreover it provides equal access of knowledge for everyone, regardless of their income level, helping to reduce social inequality by providing resources to disadvantaged groups. Another benefit offered by library services is that they encourage reading habits and continuous self-education among people of all ages. It would play an important role, especially for Gen Z who will be the future hope of the country, because without an educated population, a country cannot prosper. These two major advantages of reading facilities increase literacy levels, and ensuring people with resources while they are working.
Such benefits notwithstanding, I would argue that online access is more reliable and effective since physical libraries are becoming obsolete and underused because people prefer digital alternatives. For instance, in many places, people are too busy to visit them. The investment may not match the actual demand. The government could allocate funds to modern educational tools, online learning platforms, or improving school facilities rather than funding traditional libraries. Additionally, building, staffing, and maintaining libraries require substantial funding, including salaries, electricity, repairs, and buying new materials, it would be financial burden on the government. This money could be spent on more urgent public needs like healthcare or infrastructure. As a result, this makes physical libraries less necessary in the digital age.
In conclusion, although physical reading services provide several benefits, I think that online resources are more rational choice due to practicality.
