Some advocates claim that company leaders should earn higher incomes than ordinary workers, while others think it is unfair based on different reasons. This essay will discuss the two perspectives and start my opinion regarding this topic.
On the one hand, it is reasonable for directors of organizations to receive higher salaries due to their huge effort in the working environment. Firstly, leaders are chosen based on their brilliant talents and work experiences. They gain profound knowledge and expertise throughout time and the working process, therefore, gaining their ability to lead and understand deeply the job demands. Secondly, directors of companies undergo different pressures in dealing with huge workloads. They are responsible for the whole team’s outcomes, which means they would take all the blame for every member’s errors if there are mistakes.
On the other hand, the opposition argues that earning higher incomes than other lower-level employees is unnecessary. Some irresponsible leaders only monitor their members, without dealing with any problems or working professionally. In some cases, leaders are not competent enough, which means they do not deserve this level and the high income they receive. This could create a sense of unfairness among ordinary workers, who contribute their physical and mental labour to the overall projects. Moreover, the inequality in incomes could widen the gap between society and the economy, making lower-paid employees decrease their productivity.
In conclusion, it is reasonable for directors of companies to be paid high salaries due to the combination of skills and responsibilities, while the lower-paid workers also get their point regarding the sense of unfairness. In my opinion, it is necessary for organizations to apply a set of criteria for even leaders, in order to ensure the working ability of directors.
