Band 8+: Day 1- With the increasing use of mobile phones and computers, fewer people are writing letters. Some people think that the traditional skill of writing letters will disappear completely. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The increasing use of mobile phones and computers has significantly transformed communication, leading to a decline in traditional letter writing. Some believe this shift will eventually result in the complete disappearance of the skill of writing letters. While digital communication offers substantial advantages, I disagree with the notion that letter writing will disappear entirely.

Digital communication is undeniably faster, more convenient, and more efficient than traditional letter writing. Emails, instant messaging, and social media platforms allow real-time information exchange, particularly valuable in professional and academic contexts. This convenience has naturally reduced the frequency of handwritten letters, as fewer people feel the need to engage in this slower, more labor-intensive form of communication.

However, letter writing involves a level of thoughtfulness and personal expression that digital communication often lacks. A handwritten letter can convey emotions and sentiments in a deeply personal way, making it a cherished medium for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and condolences. Additionally, certain cultural traditions and individual preferences will likely preserve the practice of letter writing. In many cultures, exchanging letters is a valued tradition, especially among older generations less comfortable with digital technology. Furthermore, there is a growing appreciation for vintage and nostalgic practices among younger generations, reflected in the resurgence of interest in pen pals and decorative stationery.

In conclusion, while traditional letter writing has diminished due to mobile phones and computers, it is unlikely to disappear completely. The unique personal touch, emotional impact, and cultural significance of handwritten letters ensure that this skill will continue to be valued in certain contexts.

Many people assume that the goal of every country should be to produce more vaterials and goods. To what extent do you agree or disagree that constantly increasing production is an appropriate goal?

While constantly producing materials and goods would increase the global economy, I strongly disagree that every country’s goal should be production. First, when every country focuses on production, sectors such as health and education would be […]
