“Why can people sometimes be so cruel to those who are different?”
I asked myself this question a year ago when I encountered a situation that still feels unfair. At our school, a girl was bullied because she was overweight. What started as simple comments gradually turned into constant mockery and teasing. I watched as she withdrew, became self-conscious, and lost her confidence. Each day seemed harder for her.
I felt bad for her and knew she was suffering from this unfair treatment. One day, I decided to approach her and offer support. We talked, and I tried to help her see that her appearance didn’t define her worth. I suggested her try to ignore the bullies, though I knew that was easier said than done. So, I chose to stand by her. We even decided to sign up for the gym together. As we spent more time together, she began to feel more confident.
Gradually, our classmates started noticing her positive traits and began treating her differently. Her school life has improved, and we’re still friends to this day. I’m glad I could help in some way to make things right.
This experience has taught me that even in the most unfair situations, it’s important to show support and understanding. I strongly believe that sometimes even a little kindness can truly change someone’s life.
