Band 6+: Doctors in many countries are saying that people are not getting enough physical exercise. What do you think are the causes of this problem? How can it be addressed?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The link between physical activity and health conditions is an ongoing discussion. In recent years, many doctors find that more people over the world are facing poor health due to insufficient physical activity. Therefore, this essay will examine some causes and possible solutions to tackle this issue.

There are a number of reasons why people lack exercise. The first problem to consider is a sedentary lifestyle. Due to various facilities offered to people’ s lives such as elevators, vehicles or delivery services, they increasingly adopt it and get a lazy lifestyle. For instance, people prefer using the elevator to the stairs because it is more convenient and saves time. An additional point is that it is hard for workers to allocate their time to exercise. Being exhausted from work or a busy lifestyle allows people to not have time to do some physical activity. According to a health report website, 95% of people choose to watch TV after finishing their work rather than exercise, thus leading to less physical activity.

Fortunately, there are some potential ways to cope with this problem. One of the most effective solutions is that governments should support people to get more physical activity. To illustrate, they should create bike lanes for commuters to encourage them to travel by bike instead of private cars. Also, governments should offer accessible exercise classes with no charge to their people. The Thai government, for instance, arranges aerobic classes at public parks all over the country on every Friday in order to urge people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

In conclusion, people’s sedentary lifestyle and difficulty of managing life schedules are the major cause of poor physical activity, creating bike lanes and public exercise classes by governments can be efficient solutions. Therefore, if governments’ actions receive effective cooperation with the public, negative effects resulting from inadequate exercise will be eradicated.
