In today’s rapidly evolving world, where everything, especially ranging from technology to trends in education, shifts at an unprecedented pace, homeschooling is becoming increasingly popular across the globe. Therefore, rather than traditional schools, some people consider it a blessing in terms of academic and social development children can have. While it offers numerous advantages, such as safety and conveniences that children can have, I believe that traditional schooling brings more benefits.
Safe learning environment and comfort are the two prime reasons behind why it can be advantageous to be homeschooled. That is to say, feeling safe while taking lessons enables a student to focus more on the lesson itself rather than being negatively influenced by both internal and external factors that are present in traditional school settings. More specifically, a school environment created at home can be of greater help for a learner primarily because of the accurate arrangement of every imperative item needed for an effective lesson, along with the non-existence of disturbing factors. Additionally, comfort, which can also be equal to flexibility, can set their own schedules and pace of learning, meaning that homeschooled children can pay close attention to challenging topics in greater depth. However, the benefits of it do not outweigh those of traditional setting.
Critics argue that traditionally schooled students have the advantage of getting social interaction, gaining more confidence in public speaking, and greater motivation. However, this argument overlooks the diverse social opportunities readily available to homeschooled children. Many homeschooling families participate in co-ops, clubs, community activities, and online learning communities, providing rich environments for socialization and peer interaction. Therefore, I am still inclined to assert that homeschooling yields more advantages than traditional schooling.
In conclusion, from my standpoint, I strongly contend that the benefits of traditional school in children’s academic and social development far outweigh those of homeschooling. As a result, I think it is no wonder that traditional clasroom setting is becoming an increasingly popular choice for parents worldwide.
