Band 7+: Nowadays anyone can post news on the internet. As a result, we cannot trust information we read there. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, the proliferation of technology has made it possible for individuals of any background to disseminate news and information on the internet. Consequently, there is a growing skepticism towards the trustworthiness of the information available online. My stance on this issue is that while there are certain merits to this trend, its drawbacks are more pronounced.

One significant negative aspect of following famous individuals online is its potential impact on the development of children. Often, youngsters emulate the behavior they see in videos without thoughtful consideration, thereby hindering the cultivation of a distinct and robust personality. Furthermore, the content uploaded on the internet by these figures may not always be suitable for impressionable young minds. For instance, dangerous challenges and inappropriate behaviors portrayed in videos can endanger the lives and wellbeing of children who emulate them.

Conversely, there are some advantages to the phenomenon of following popular figures on the internet. Firstly, some of these personalities contribute valuable educational content, which can aid students in their studies and academic achievements. Additionally, individuals in certain professions, such as pilots, doctors, and engineers, use their online platforms to share insights about their careers, potentially inspiring young people to consider future vocations in these fields.

In conclusion, despite the arguments in favor of utilizing online platforms to gain information, I reject this notion and maintain that the disadvantages of this trend far outweigh its advantages. It is imperative for individuals, especially young ones, to critically evaluate the information they encounter on the internet and exercise caution in believing everything they read or watch.
