Band 6+: Some people think if students are afraid of the teacher, it is better. Other say that having a friendly relationship is better. Discuss both points and give your opinion

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

People have divergent opinions about whether teachers should build a serious image or become friendly with students. While some contend that pupils being afraid of the educators help imporve their academic results, I believe that the benefits of having an affable teacher far outweigh the drawbacks.

To begin with, people argue that only when students are scared of the teacher will they be obedient to them, albeit reluctantly. Hence, this drives the immature teenagers to put in efforts to complete the assigned homework on time, resulting in improved academic results. In addition, it is logical to assume that students would refrain from sleeping in the classes that are instructed by teachers who are strict. Given that achieving a desirable academic grades to earn an admission ticket into a prestigious university is the paramount mission of students, it is justified that students should be afraid of the teacher.

Nevertheless, I am convinced that a close-knit relationship between teachers and students has greater instrumental effects on children and adolescents. School should not only be focused on students’ technical knowledge on books, but also the holistic developments which shape personality and future behaviors. To achieve such goals, earning students’ trust is essential of educators to spot their diffculties in life and help resolve the thorny problems, such as bullying, which teenagers may encounter. Moreover, if teachers are beloved, students may pay more attention to the class, potentially leading to enhanced performance results as well.

In conclusion, although it seems helpful and sensible for teachers to conduct teaching in a strict and serious manner for better marks, I reaffirm that close bondings should be built between teachers and students to foster a nurturing study environment.
