In light of serious budget deficits in many nations around the world, what the government should and should not spend on is being heatedly debated. Accordingly, some say governments should allocate some funding towards cultural activities such as music and art. In my opinion, while it’s true that there are many competing priorities for government spending, investing in cultural activities can yield significant benefits for society as a whole.
