In many countries, individuals continue to work until a later age or retirement age. Some argue it is a good option because they can be financially independent even in old age. Meanwhile, others believe they cannot be initiative compared to young people. From my perspective, it has more advantages than disadvantages.
Longer working life benefits individuals and society. The first reason is they can be financially independent, which means they can have a happy life. Moreover, they can also help by passing on experience and knowledge to society. On the other hand, they can help young workers learn from their experience. Don’t overlook the fact that they can also help society with potential labor shortages. In Japan, for example, a sizeable amount of workers are above 65 years old.
Among the drawbacks, older workers do not show that much enthusiasm due to a lack of energy. On the other hand, they are not energetic enough to show initiative skills in different project types. Second, they prevent the development of young workers. To be more precise, if the position of young workers were assigned, there would not be any progress in the community.
In most of the countries in the world, people tend to work for longer or after retirement age. Although it has some drawbacks, I believe that the advantages outweighed the disadvantages.
