Band 5+: Students in school should learn academic subjects and pass exam. Other skills such as cookery, dressmaking and woodwark can be learnt well from family and friends. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some individuals believe that students only focus on academic subjects, and domestic sciences such as cookery, sewing and carpentry should be learnt at home. I partly agree with this views, because both academic subjects and practial sciences are most crucial of students life.

On the one hand, studying academic subjects are very essential. Firstly, the basic knowledge of academic subjects such as maths, life sciences, social sciences and languages makes student gain knowledge and prepare their higher education and goo jobs. Because at school has trained teachers they learn student and proper study materials. Math and science helps thinking knowledge and solving problems. Secondly, exams help students understand their progress and improve their learning. Also exams encourage discipline and regular study habits. For instance, when students prepare for exams, they learn time management and responsiblity, which are valuable life skils.

On the other hand, practical skills like cookery, sewing and cartpentry are the more significant in the daily life. In addition, this skills make students more independent. For example, a student who can cook and fix clothes can take care of themselves when living alone or studing abroad. Without these skills a student face many tough situations. Moreover, learning these skills only from family or friends may not always be effective, because not all familes can teach these skills properly. For instance, some parents are too busy or lack the knowledge, so schools should also include basic lessons on practical skills.

In conclusion, while it is true that academic subject are very important in school. I believe that schools should also teach some practical skills. A balance between skills can help students more successful and responsibe in the future.
