There is a view that parents should be punished for the crimes which have been done by their children. Children are brought up by parents, so they are responsible for their actions of younger ones. However, no parent would encourage their kids to be criminals or breaking the law, and it would be completely unfair to punish other ones.
Parents are the child’s first role model. Children behave, react and imitate same as their parents. That is why parents play a crucial role in providing physical, emotional, and psychological support to their children, and their influence greatly impacts a child’s growth and well-being. Children acquire skills at the very early stage of their life if the parents are responsive and understanding.
However, sometimes even parents can not control their children because of internet along with its influence on their behavior. Firstly, kids can easily obtain violent, explicit, or illicit materials on the internet. Children’s attitudes and behaviour may change as a result of this prolonged exposure to desensitisation. This makes it more likely that kids will commit crimes.
Apart from this, children should be taught to take responsibility for their actions. When there are negative consequences, most people prefer to place the blame elsewhere. It’s important for parents to set clear expectations and consequences for their children’s behavior, while also providing them with the support and guidance they need to learn from their mistakes. Ultimately, both children and parents share in the responsibility of fostering a sense of accountability and understanding the consequences of one’s actions.
In conclusion, while parents have a crucial role in establishing moral values in their children. I think that penalising parents for their children’s crimes is not the most appropriate course of action because there are other crucial considerations that must be made, and it is just a means of avoiding responsibility.
