Band 6+: Day 1- With the increasing use of mobile phones and computers, fewer people are writing letters. Some people think that the traditional skill of writing letters will disappear completely. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In the contemporary world, due to the proliferation of mobile phones and computers in this decade, the number of individuals who use letters to communicate has declined significantly. As such, there is an opinion that the complete demise of the conventional writing-letter skill is inevitable. I totally agree with this viewpoint for the reasons outlined below.

There is one major reason why envelopes are less being used in this decade, resulting in the total disappearance of the orthodox skill of writing them. In the past, when the means of communication were not as advanced as today, the exclusive way to communicate with other people, especially the ones who stayed far away from us, was to use letters. This kind of communication usually took us from 20 to 25 days to receive, which consumed us a lot of time. However, in this digital era, we can engage in conversations with our sparse and friends immediately no matter how far away they are, thanks to mobile devices and computers. Therefore, these cutting-edge tools help us dispense with the time needed to wait for responses from our beloved ones, but we can receive them immediately.

Moreover, those modern devices can bring about convenience for individuals rather than letters. This is because if we wanted to receive them, we needed to commute to post offices to have them. But with those state-of-the-art tools, we can still text and have video calls with our friends and families in the comfort of our own homes, let alone that we can do that at any time and anywhere we want. This is a testament to how the traditional skill of writing letters will disappear due to the escalating use of mobile phones and computers.

In conclusion, I am of the opinion that time-consuming when we write letters and wait to receive them and the convenience that mobile phones and computers bring about are two primary culprits behind the complete disappearance of the orthodox skill of writing letters.
