Some local languages are becoming extinct. In this essay I will discuss both the advantages and disadvantages of this issue and draw a conclusion.
One of the main advantages is that communication can become easier. If local languages disappear, global languages such as English, Spanish, French, and German will be more widely used. As a result, people from different countries can understand and interact with each other more easily. They can also speak with conviction and confidence in those languages with foreign individuals, especially tourists. For example, a person who speaks English can work not only in England but also in other countries where English is daily used. This can create more opportunities for both education and employment.
However, there are also several disadvantages of extinction of local languages. One of which is that the death of local languages can lead to the loss of culture, traditions, and national identity. If people stop using their native languages, ceremonies, stories, and cultural knowledge may disappear. For instance, in some countries, young people are increasingly using global languages online, which may reduce the use of their own languages and affect cultural continuity.
In conclusion, while the disappearance of local languages may make global communication easier, it can also result in the loss of cultural heritage. For these reasons, I believe that both the advantages and disadvantages are significant, but the cultural losses should be considered by people.
